Outgoing Minister van Nieuwenhuizen visits pilot plant for future-proof water supply Dow
On Monday 31 May, outgoing Minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W) visited our DeCo location in Terneuzen.
Working visit and tour
The minister was received by Annette Ottolini and the CEO of Dow Benelux, Anton van Beek.
The minister's working visit focused on water reuse on a large, innovative and sustainable scale, circularity (reuse of treated waste water) and the long-term collaboration between Dow and Evides Industriewater.
The minister was updated on the joint task of Evides Industriewater and Dow Benelux to use 100% recycled water in the production process at Dow. The basic principle here is that the high requirements in terms of quality and reliability are met. An important part of this task is the pilot with a wetland. The effluent from the local industrial and domestic wastewater treatment plants undergoes a natural pre-treatment, after which it is further purified to the high quality required for the industrial process.
Tour
During a tour of the wetland and through the treatment building, process engineer Evides Industriewater Otto Schepers and water specialist Dow Niels Groot provided information and explanations about the (pre) treatment process. It was a successful working visit.
